This wine is groundbreaking in the Xinomavro-focused Naoussa Appellation in Macedonia in northern Greece. The grapes are harvested from young, organic and biodynamically grown vines, no more than 7-12 years old.
The wine is spontaneously fermented on steel tanks and not aged on oak, as most of the region's reds are. This results in a wine with unparalleled freshness - a real thirst quencher. It has elegant tannins and aromas of summer, heavy on strawberry, red berries, a hint of herbs, tomato and black olive. The taste is long-lasting and draws you in.
The wine has a large body and goes well with many kinds of food: raw, roast or baked - meat, fish and vegetables. It handles oils and spices well and is perfect for Greek food with tomato, vinegar and lemon - or enjoy it on its own slightly chilled.
For a similar, but heavier and more complex wine of the same style, try Thymiopoulos Vineyards Naoussa Alta
Enjoy this wine at Gaarden & Gaden, Anarki, Brace, Terroiristen Vinbar- og Butik and Vår and a long and ever-growing list of other bars and restaurants.
