This certified organic red wine, Negoska Red, is made from the local varietal Negoska, from fields in Goumennisa. The brothers Stergios and Perikles Tatsis grow this grape, which is usually used in the Goumenissa appellation wine, where it is mixed with Xinomavro. In their usual progressive style, the brothers have chosen to release this wine on 100% Negoska for several years, as the only producer in Greece, until very recently.
After hand picking, the most is wild fermented on steel tanks and then aged in old french oak casks for more than 12 months. It is then bottled without the use of filtration and released no less than a year later.
The colour in the glass is a beautiful dark red. In the nose, you will find ripe red fruits, especially ripe late-summer plums. On the palate, the wine has nice tannins and impressively balanced acidity. The wine is characterized by a long-lasting aftertaste with notes of black tea and tobacco.
The wine pairs well with tomato dishes, spiced meat dishes and olive oil-heavy food.
