A unique wine on the Fokiano grape. This beautiful red is a handmade rarity by the family behind Afianes Wines. It is foot stomped on granite, vinified & macerated in earthed Pithari - Greek for Amphora - following the thousands-year-long traditions, that have been practised on the magical, Blue Zone island of Ikaria.
The color of the red wine is vibrant and light as a rosé. The aroma and taste experience full of red forest berries added white pepper, scented shrubs and a hint of sea salt. A complex wine with a long and teasing, yet subtle taste. A tasting experience not unlike volcanic Nerello Mascalese reds known from Sicily.
Bring this wine when meeting up with your friends. It has a beautiful opaque, natural red-brown color with orange highlights, and long-lasting legs. Ripe forest fruits such as cherry, lychee, and blackberry on the nose, and flavors of sour cherry and wild cherry dominate; intense minerality, with a wet granite finish.
Paris well with Sweet & sour dishes, meats with wild greens, rabbit stew and some traditional dishes such as Giouvetsi (baked meat with pasta), Gemista (stuffed peppers & tomatoes) Dolma, Soufiko, and Magirio.
