This wine has newer vintages (2018 to 2021) and an older vintage (2013) which use different production methods and have different qualities:

Newer vintages:

The Xinomavro grapes for this rosé are hand-picked from vines that are no more than 7-10 years old. The vines grow on several parcels of land, at an altitude of 450 to 650 metres, in soil containing granite and schist. The warm continental climate is tempered by the cooling winds coming either from Vermio mountain or from the sea.

The grapes are part of the late harvest in early October - much later than the rest of the Naoussa harvest - which results in slightly higher sugar contents. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and macerated for 12 hours, and fermented with the wild yeasts for 5-6 months on steel tanks, before being aged in second-use oak barrels for 4 months.

The wine has a light, beautiful pink hue, with aromas of strawberry, pomegranate and cherry - as well as the signature hint of tomato from the Xinomavro grape and minerality from the soil.

The taste is fresh and juicy, with elegant tannins and a decent bite of minerality and acid. It has staying power and a nice mouthfeel. The rosé is recommended as an aperitif, and for starters and mains with fresh and spicy flavours.

2013:

The Xinomavro grapes for this rosé are hand-picked from vines that are 26 years old. The vines grow on a single parcel of land, at an altitude of 500 metres, in soil containing granite and schist. The high altitude ensures lower average temperatures and the cool air coming down from the Vermio mountain gives freshness and elegance to the wine.

The grapes are part of the late harvest in early October - much later than the rest of the Naoussa harvest - which results in slightly higher sugar contents. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and macerated for 8-10 hours with the indigenous yeasts, before being aged in second-use oak barrels for 4 years.

The resulting wine has a light orange hue, with reddish notes. The nose has magnificent aromas of dried fruit and tomatoes, stone fruit and herbs, as well as florality and warm spices.

The taste is dry and high in acid, which is excellently balanced by the round and slightly oily mouthfeel with elegant tannins and a decent bite of minerality. It has staying power and elegance to spare.

Serve by itself or pair it with elegant tomato, shellfish or herb-based dishes.

This powerhouse vintage rosé can be found at restaurant Tèrra, among others.
